Filter Pane
Depending on the setting of the Filter Criteria Display component in the "Smart Watchlist Properties dialog," this pane is displayed as a control panel, as a text summary, or is hidden. If displayed as a:
Control panel, it displays the following tabs, where you specify the criteria to be used to filter the smart watchlist:
"Filter pane: Relationship tab" — Use this tab to filter the smart watchlist by scorecard object relationships.
"Filter pane: Type tab" — Use this tab to filter the smart watchlist by scorecard object types.
"Filter pane: Perspective tab" — Use this tab to filter the smart watchlist by the perspectives to which scorecard objects are associated.
"Filter pane: Performance tab" — Use this tab to filter the smart watchlist by the performance criteria (status, score, or ranking) of scorecard objects
"Filter pane: Ownership tab" — Use this tab to filter the smart watchlist by the business owners to whom scorecard objects are assigned.
Selections you make in the Filter pane are reflected immediately in the smart watchlist, with the exception of text box entries. For text boxes, you must change the focus off the text box for the entry to take effect.
Text summary, it displays a read-only summary of the current filter criteria.
Smart Watchlist
Lists the initiatives, objectives, and KPIs within a scorecard that meet the criteria that you specified in the Filter pane.
Use this watchlist to view and manage these initiatives, objectives, and KPIs. See "Watchlists" for additional information.
Toolbar
This toolbar contains the following buttons:
Save — Use this button to save the smart watchlist.
Save As — Use this button to display the "Save As dialog," where you save the smart watchlist with another name.
Properties — Use this button to display the "Smart Watchlist Properties dialog," where you can specify how the Filter pane is to be displayed and the amount of indentation for hierarchical objects in the smart watchlist.
Use this tab of the "Scorecard editor: Smart Watchlist tab" to filter a smart watchlist by scorecard object relationships. For example, you might want to include only the Improve Customer Satisfaction objective and its children.
Components
Start With
Use this area to specify which nodes (that is, the representation of an initiative, objective, or KPI in the Strategy pane or Initiatives pane) to start with in the smart watchlist. To do so, click Browse to display the "Choose Starting Nodes dialog," where you select one or more nodes with which to start.
Note: As an alternative to clicking the Browse button, you can add objectives, initiatives, or KPIs by dragging the objects from the Strategy and Initiatives panes and dropping them in the Filter pane. |
Include
Use this area to specify:
Whether to include in the smart watchlist, the starting nodes themselves, if they meet all other filtering criteria. To do so, select the Self option.
Whether for each starting node to include descendants, children, or no descendants and children. To do so, select one of the following options:
All Descendants — Use this option to include all descendents.
Children — Use this option to include only children.
None — Use this option to exclude descendants and children. If you select this option, you must also select the Self option.

Type
Use this area to select which types of scorecard objects to include in the smart watchlist. To do so, select Objectives, Initiatives, KPIs, or any combination of the three.
Note that you can include only KPIs that are associated with objectives and initiatives in the scorecard. You cannot include KPIs from the catalog that are not associated with objectives and initiatives in the scorecard.
Use this tab of the "Scorecard editor: Smart Watchlist tab" to filter a smart watchlist by the perspectives to which objects are associated. For example, you might want to include only objects that are associated with the Financial perspective.

Perspectives
Use this area to specify the perspective associations to include in the smart watchlist. To do so, select one of the following options:
All — Use this option to include all perspective associations.
Specific — Use this option to include only specific perspective associations. If you select this option, then select one or more perspectives from the list to the right of this option.
Use this tab of the "Scorecard editor: Smart Watchlist tab" to filter a smart watchlist by the performance criteria (status, score, or ranking) of scorecard objects. For example, you might want to include all scorecard objects that have a status of Warning or you might want to display the top 10 best performing KPIs.

Use this area to specify whether to include All, Top n, or Bottom n objects that meet the based on criteria. If you select Top or Bottom, then enter the number of objects in the text box to the right.
based on
Use this area to specify the criteria on which to base the inclusion of all, top n, or bottom n objects. To do so, select one of the following options:
Best Performance (% Variance) — Use this option to specify that the inclusion of all, top n, or bottom n objects is to be based on the best performance ranking.
This option causes a descending row sort on the % Variance value and, due to sorting, objects will not be shown with indentation.
Worst Performance (% Variance) — Use this option to specify that the inclusion of all, top n, or bottom n objects is to be based on the worst performance ranking.
This option causes an ascending row sort on the % Variance value and due to sorting, objects will not be shown with indentation.
Biggest Improvements (% Change) — Use this option to specify that the inclusion of all, top n, or bottom n objects is to be based on the biggest improvement ranking.
This option causes a descending row sort on the % Change value and, due to sorting, objects will not be shown with indentation
Biggest Declines (% Change) — Use this option to specify that the inclusion of all, top n, or bottom n objects is to be based on the biggest decline ranking.
This option causes an ascending row sort on the % Change value and, due to sorting, objects will not be shown with indentation.
Score — Use this option to specify that the inclusion of all, top n, or bottom n objects is to be based on score. If you select this option, then specify the score range to be used.
With this option, if you have specified All (and not Top n or Bottom n, objects will be displayed in hierarchical order with indentation, unless a column sort is in effect.
Status — Use this option to specify that the inclusion of all, top n, or bottom n objects is to be based on status. If you select this option, then specify which statuses by selecting one or more of the status boxes.
With this option, if you have specified All (and not Top n or Bottom n, objects will be displayed in hierarchical order with indentation, unless a column sort is in effect.
If you do not select any status boxes, the rows that have no status (often due to missing data for the specific KPI and dimension values in effect) will be displayed.

Use this area to specify the business owners. To do so, click the Add or Remove Business Owners button to display the "Select User dialog," where you select business owners.
